3 Muddy Wheels - Disabled Rambling In The UK

Whether you are thinking of buying your first off-road mobility scooter or wheelchair, or your next, or want to discover where you can hire one, 3 Muddy Wheels aims to help you find the answer that's right for you. Having owned four off-road mobility scooters, and hired many others at attractions around the UK, I now promote mental health through disabled rambling wherever I can, and campaign for improved access in town and country.

Disabled Rambling On A Budget

PictureHiring a Tramper at Avon Heath Country Park
Understandably probably the biggest gripe about off-road mobility scooters is the cost, with the best machines costing up to £8,000. So rather than going new how about buying a secondhand TGA Supersport, just one year old, with new big batteries, and with warranty, for £2.035, at the time of writing this, or the mighty Breeze S4 for £2,636, both from Mobility Giant? That's about half price, and how I got started. Mobility Giant deliver to the door for free, and you can try it for 14 days to see if it suits you, and get your money back if it doesn't. TGA themselves also sell 'aproved used' mobility scooters.

If that's too much, or even if it isn't, how about you hire a mobility scooter at a local outdoor venue? For example whilst donations are always welcome at venues there are a lot in the South West of England on loan to members of Countryside Mobility for free, membership for a year is just £10. Check here for nearly 200 suggestions of UK venues with scooters for inexpensive hire.

If you are eligible for Motability you can use your allowance to lease a TGA Supersport, TGA Breeze, or Permobil M5 off-road wheelchair, for example.
